Mary Luz Moreno Díaz has a PhD in Natural Sciences for Development with emphasis in natural resource management (2015) from UNED, TEC, and Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica.
She has a Master's Degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Economics (1999) from the Universidad de Concepción (Chile) and is an economist (1994) from the Universidad Nacional de Bogotá (Colombia).
She is a researcher and professor in the area of policies for the management of natural and environmental resources, in the areas of public policy analysis, economic valuation of natural resources and ecosystem services, and climate change and variability. Her workplaces are protected wilderness areas, buffer zones, biological corridors, and coastal zones.
She teaches the following courses: Quantitative Methods of Ecological Economics, an elective course about Economics of Climate Change, Economics, Ecology and Sustainable Development, Trade and Environment, Microeconomics of the Public Sector, Economic Analysis, Economic Theory and Policy, and Thesis Workshop I and II.
