The International Center of Economic Policy for Sustainable Development (CINPE) from Universidad Nacional is an institution that has become a dynamic, flexible, and innovative academic entity through investigation, professional development, and external relationships.

CINPE has a clear compromise and direction for internationalization, developed with reliable actions and giving promotion to the integration of social, economic, environmental, and institutional dimensions. It is a center that actively participates alongside with universities from Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe.

It aspires to encourage research and teaching as a whole with its experience exchange, knowledge, and student or academic flexibility. So on, with our research, we show a clear picture and measure regarding public policies with an impact on a sectoral and territorial level, especially regions outside the metropolitan area.

CINPE has conceived a name for its academic and methodological rigor, developing high-level research projects, whose results have the purpose of supporting the decision-making on the public policy that influences diverse sectors and members of the Costa Rican society. The large variety of themes that are discussed involves aspects related to trade and globalization, regulation of public policies, innovation systems, rural policies for local development, and natural and environmental resource management policies.

We offer academic opportunities integrated through three master´s degree programs, an updated PhD in economic policy, and a continuing education program. We aspire to maintain and promote a refreshing, innovative, and top-quality academic offer, especially our Master’s degree and PhD in economic policy, reaching different regions of the country and beyond our borders.

We’re currently reaching the 25th yeat of our century. The changes and challenges in our work areas are considerable and happen quickly, which requires continuous improvement in our academic competencies and applied scientific research with the local, regional, and national communities. Moreover, it is mandatory to strengthen the relationships with the productive and public sectors and the different social groups of the country. That way, we can continue with our support and manage to face the different economic, social, and environmental challenges in the years to come.
