Smart and Sustainable Cities

The course aims to provide the participants with a general perspective about the rising importance of the smart and sustainable cities concept, in a collaboration context between the private and public sectors, with the support of conceptual elements such as innovation, circular economy, ecological economy, etc.

The notions given by the course allow the participants to distinguish the main elements in the smart and sustainable cities functioning and their scope on the urban development of our countries.

This type of learning about smart and sustainable cities has as its main core practical foundations that can contribute to solving specific problems in the great urban challenges that current societies face nowadays, as the ones exposed by CEPAL stand out, poverty, informality, housing insecurity (Improvised settlements or slums), lack or dull quality of basic services, public transport deficiencies, private transport issues, and community facilities or public spaces shortage.
